Cesium chloride has a mechanical structure similar to that of potassium and it is readily taken up by cells. When the normal cells take it up, it has no negative effect as they can dwell  in high pH conditions, however when the cancer cells take it up, they will not survive for long as they only thrive in low pH. So this disturbs their growth and reduces their chances of survival.

Normally, the cancer cells are low in ph level. In comparison to healthy cells, the cancerous cells are more acidic. When a cancer patient takes a cesium chloride supplement, the pH levels in the cancer cells are increased. High pH levels are not good for the cancer cells and therefore the rate of the tumor growth becomes slowed. The treatment of cancer through use of cesium chloride supplements is often called the pH therapy.

Research doctors thought of cesium chloride being used in cancer treatment after a keen observation that people who lived in areas that were high in alkali metals were not suffering from certain types of cancer. As early as 1920s researchers had began claims that the cesium chloride could be used as an effective alternative cancer treatment. This claims were not approved by the researchers who went ahead trying to show the effects of cesium chloride in cancer treatment who even suggested that the cesium chloride had no effect in cancer treatment. In both tests as well as other tests done by other physicians showed very positive results as in each case the tumor masses disappeared.
