Greek Test and Biofocus Test In Cancer Treatment

Greek Test and Biofocus Test Help In Personalized Cancer Treatment

The cancerous cells in most cases are able to resist the drugs that are supposed to be treating the patient. Even in the case of chemotherapy the cancer cell resistance to drug that was intended to kill them and heal the patient is common. For this reason the doctors have developed a more personalized cancer treatment. This involves conducting certain tests to show the ability of the cancerous cells resisting the drugs. Through lab tests help the doctors come up with treatment that will kill the cancerous cells faster.

Today cancer treatment is becoming more and more strategic. Different tumors need different medical attention to be treated effectively and efficiently. Bodily reaction to the cancer treatments can also require personalized treatment in order to limit the side effects of the medication as well as to make the treatment more effective. The circulating tumor cells are a major culprit in metastasis and so lab tests can show the drugs that can kill them completely

In the past the methods that were used in cancer treatments that were not strategic enough. Without pre treatment tests the cancer treatment becomes a simple “hit or Miss” situation which in most cases does not yield any effective results. A cancer treatment agent that may work in my situation might not work for you and so offering standard cancer drugs to patients is not an effective treatment approach. Some of these tests that help doctors in effective treatment of cancer include but not limited to the following;

The Greek test and cancer treatment

Due to the errors in cancer treatment that rise from the trial and error treatments or other the standard cancer cure methods, several cancer patients have lost their lives. Some of the cancer patients developed very critical side effects that only worsened their conditions while others had to go through chemotherapy repeatedly but to no avail. The patients have always wanted a better treatment method that would end their misery. The best treatment methods that will uproot the cancerous cells and avoid the possibility of cancer cells reoccurring after treatment has never been easy to find in the past but now the Greek test may help doctors with valuable information about the cancer cells ability to resist drugs especially the circulating tumor cells that are known to wreak havoc as they fuel metastasis. Through the Greek test precise treatment methods can be reached as the doctors will be testing the reactions of the cancer cells to the drugs in the Petri dish in the lab before the patient is treated. The most effective agent in inhibiting the growth of the cancer cells is then used to treat the patient.

The Greece test employs the latest developments in the genetic therapy to identify the cancerous cells thereby isolating them in the blood stream, culture them for further diagnosis, asses the patients sensitivity to the chemotherapy drugs and to come up with the profile for the cancer. The results of the Greek test can then be used by the doctors to give a more individualized treatment that is strategic in curing the patient’s cancer. This helps the cancer patients in two ways; it saves them lots of money that would rather be spent in haphazard treatment that is normally repeated hence more money spent. It also helps the patients by avoiding some side effects that may occur when the body reacts negatively to the drugs.

Nevertheless, the test on these circulating tumor cells (CTCs) can be used to assess the patient’s ability to metabolize chemotherapy drugs and assess the tumor’s resistivity to treatment. Their result is a more informed treatment procedure designed for the patient that will help in treating the patient more effectively without more pain inflicted on the patient during repeat chemotherapies.

In the past isolating the cancer cells was not easy as they travel the same circulatory path with the healthy cells. Today it is possible.  A medical professional takes a blood sample in the office. The sample is then sent to R.G.C.C. International GmbH, a European genetic research center where the researchers will create blood culture and isolate the tumor cell and perform a series of tests such as micro-array, PCR, RT-PCR, southern and less northern blot.

The Greek test will help the doctor with the following;

v  Discover genes which support cancer growth.

v  Assess which mechanisms that causes the body to resist chemotherapy drugs, and seek chemotherapy drugs that can support the patient’s recovery.

v  Assess which nutrients can cause apoptosis, tumor cell death, and slow cancer cell growth.

v  Develop a natural treatment program to hasten recovery.

Biofocus test and cancer treatment

The Biofocus test is aimed at availing the best treatment for cancer. First the disseminated cancer cells from the bloodstream are detected. The type of cancer will determine the kind of parameters used in detecting the circulating tumor cells in the blood that have broken away from the main tumor.

When the CTCs are detected, the next process is to test which chemotherapy drug can work best in fighting the CTCs and cure the cancer. The cancer cell resistance to the drug is also analyzed and this will help in choosing the best treatment for the cancer patient.

Lung Cancer – Your Risk factors

Lung cancer

Lung cancer treatment start with quitting smoking because smoking contributes to 85% of all reported lung cancer problems

I know that at the mere mention of the name cancer when the doctor is examining your health condition you are likely to frown even if the doctor was not referring to your case. This is because cancer is a disease that scares people both the sick and the other family. When a member of the family is down with cancer everybody is concern. Many will wonder that if cancer is in the family and it is hereditary who is going to be the next victim or casualty? These concerns are justified and therefore it is only important that we do all we can to reduce the risk factors as much as we can. What can be avoided should and must be avoided so that we do not find ourselves in this state of panic. A risk factor for lung cancer is anything capable of increasing ones chances of getting lung cancer. It is important on the onset to understand that having one or more of the risk factors is not a conclusion that one is definitely going to contract lung cancer it is not always the case. There are just indications of risks and not finality, as a matter of fact one may portray a number of these factors but is still free from cancer while one who did not have any of the risk factors end up being diagnosed with lung cancer. I am put a lot of emphasis on this so that you are not scared in anyway.

Lung Cancer – Smoking

Cigarette smoking is one of the major risk factors of lung cancer and allow me to repeat once more that it is not automatic that if you are smoking then you will definitely get lung cancer no, you only have higher risk but not definite. Back to the discussion, as a risk factor it is estimated that out of a total of 100, 85 lung cancers are directly related to cigarette smoking be it cigars or pipe smoking all increases ones risk for lung cancer. As a smoker it is important that you are aware of the dangers of smoking because your risk of getting lung cancer increases depending on the quantity and the duration of smoking.

Quitting smoking however lowers your risk for getting cancer the good news about all this is that your risk will go down even if you partially stop for example if you are used to smoking one packet of 40 sticks of cigarette daily and you reduce it by half this reduction will go a long way in reducing your risk of getting lung cancer. Even though there will be reduction even on partial quitting it will be much better if you quit completely.

The risk associated to cigarette smoking is also extended to secondhand smokers. That is to say people who do not smoke at all but stays around smokers. Because of the nicotine emanating from the smoke of cigarette burns, if these are inhaled by these none smokers then they are equally in danger of contracting lung cancer as a result of this simple action.

Lung Cancer – Other risks

It is not all about cigarette smoking that increases the risk factors of lung cancers, we have other risks as well. The exposure to some addictive substances may increase your risk for lung cancer and such substances may include:

  • Marijuana – This is a very powerful substance whose effect is very significant. Smoking just one marijuana cigarette, or a joint, has the capability of affecting the lungs to the tune of smoking a whole pack of cigarettes.
  • Certain chemicals – These include arsenic and asbestos they are equally able to increase the risk.
  • Radiation – This come a result of exposures from your work place, medical tests, or from the environment (such as radioactive dust).
  • Radon gas – This includes exposure from your home or work place.
  • Air pollution – Living where the air is polluted can increase your risk for lung cancer due to the inhalation of contaminated oxygen.

Risk of lung cancer may also come due to changes in gene mutations. These gene changes often occur as one approaches old age. As precautionary measure it is important to seek for medical attention immediately if you:

  • Experience unexpected onset of chest pain which is characterized by crushing or squeezing and is progressing in intensity, or appears with symptoms associated to heart attack like shortness of breath and nausea.
  • Experiencing sudden difficulty in breathing.
  • If you are coughing up a lot of blood (not just streaks of blood or a small amount of blood mixed with a lot of mucus) from your lungs.
  • Have been vomiting and feeling that you are likely to pass out when you sit up or stand for some time.

As mention earlier cancer is a very devastating illness and it will be advisable that you are always in constant touch with your doctor to find out when an evaluation is needed resulting from your health experiences like if you:

  • Have new chest pain (more than just discomfort when you cough) that lasts a long time and deteriorate when you take a deep breathe.
  • Develop symptoms of pneumonia like shortness of breath, cough, and fever.
  • Have a cough that produces a small amount of bloody (bright red or rust-colored) mucus.
  • Frequently cough up yellow or green mucus from your lungs (not postnasal drainage) for longer than 2 days.
  • Vomit regularly when coughing.
  • Have a prolonged cough that goes for four weeks or even more.
  • When you breathe normally when you resting but lucks breathe after undertaking on a physical activity.
  • Experience increasing fatigue for no good reason.
  • Have suddenly begun losing weight.

Smoking Addiction Causes Cancer

Smoking Addiction causes Cancer

How Smoking Addiction causes Cancer?

Thank you for smoking! is what you would expect from any one who benefits from the addiction and Cancer epidemics. Sad but true some people benefit from other people pain and affliction.

November is the Lung Cancer Awareness month, that is why AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center is dedicating a lot of time to raise the awareness about the association between smoking addiction and cancer.  Addiction is an emotional and  mental dependence on a substance. Nicotine is the principal addictive substance in tobacco, while there could be other substances that may also contribute to tobacco dependence. Regular smoking of tobacco products lead to addiction in most users. Nicotine is an addictive drug just like cocaine and heroin. Researchers are also investigating on some of the other chemicals in tobacco that make it harder to quit.

The susceptibility to lung cancer has been strongly related with cigarette smoking, in other words Smoking Addiction Causes Cancer . It’s estimated that about 90% of lung cancers are as a result of tobacco use. The susceptibility of lung cancer increases with the number of cigarettes an individual smokes over time. Doctors equate this risk in terms of pack-years of smoking chronology. For instance, if a person has smoked two packs of cigarettes in each day for 10 years, he has a history of 20 years of packs.  Even though with a 10 pack-year  of smoking history can lead to cancer  risks, those with a history of smoking over 30 pack-years are considered more susceptible to cancer.

Smoking Addiction Causes Cancer, one in seven who smoke die from Lung Cancer!

Among those people who smoke more packs of cigarettes each day, one in seven will eventually die of lung cancer. Tobacco smoke has over 4,000 chemical substances, most of which have been shown to be causing cancer. The two basic carcinogens in tobacco smoke are substances known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrosamines. The susceptibility of developing lung cancer will decrease every year following cessation of smoking. This is because normal cells always grow to replace the already damaged cells in the lungs. Former smokers have a high susceptibility to developing cancer even 15 years after cessation of smoking.  It’s important to note that there is no safe exposure to tobacco. Even Pipe and cigar smoking may also cause lung cancer however not to the same high degree as with cigarettesSmoking.  Pipe and cigar smokers have a five fold increase in cancer development compared to non smokers.

Passive smoking

Smoking addiction exposes innocent individuals to smoke passively. Passive Smoking happens when people co-live sharing a place of living or working quarters with active smoker. This scenario has also been established as one way of cancer susceptibility. Research has revealed that non-smokers who reside  with smokers have a 24% risk increase of developing lung cancer as compared to other non-smokers. An estimated 3,000 people in the U.S die from cancer -attributable to passive smoking. Smoking Addiction Causes Cancer not only to the active smoker but also to the passive smoker.

Asbestos fibers

Smoking Addiction causes Cancer

Cigarette smoking can also lead to a drastic increase in the chances of developing asbestos. That is how Smoking Addiction Causes Cancer by increasing the risk of asbestosis.
These are silicate fibers that persist for a long period in lung tissue following exposure to asbestos. These fibers are commonly associated with work places. This is because in the past, asbestos was widely used in both acoustic and thermal insulation materials. However, today most countries have banned the use of asbestos. Both mesothelioma and lung cancer are often associated with exposure to asbestos. It’s worth noting that asbestos workers and smokers have a susceptibility risk of about 50-90 times greater than non smokers to develop cancer.  On the other hand, Asbestos workers who do not smoke have a lower risk to develop lung Cancer their risk to develop lung cancer of about 5 times that of the non-smokers.
