What is GABA?

Known as Gamma-Amino Butyric acid, it is an amino acid that performs functions of neurotransmitters in the brain.it is the most abundant neurotransmitters occurring in the central nervous system (CNS).it  acts as an inhibitor of transmissions in the brain thus in the process calming down activities in the nervous system. The Neurotransmitters Question

The brain is made up of millions of cells. Communication takes place from one brain region to another through neurotransmitters. Neurons are individual cells of the nerves that make up the nervous system. They serve as the wiring for the body to transmit information form one region to another. The electrical signals generated are transported through the neurons as a single impulse. Ones the impulses reaches the end of the neurons, it is transmitted to the other cell through neurotransmitters.

The central nervous system consists of the spinal cord and the brain. The two consist of neurotransmitters which pass from one end of the neuron to another. The peripheral nervous system which is made up of nerves that run to the rest of the body. The nerves transmit chemical signals from one neuron t adjacent gland cells and muscles.

GABA and glutamate are the most abundantly occurring neurotransmitters in the nervous system. The two are in abundance in the cerebral cortex which is the region where interpretation of sensation takes place and thinking occurs. The ending of the neurons are made up of sac like structures which are filled with neurotransmitters.

When the chemical and electrical signals reach the end of the neurons, they trigger the sacs to release neurotransmitters to act as a bridge between one nerve cell and another. The spaces called synapses act as a bridge through which signals pass to the other cells. On reaching the other neuron, the neurotransmitters attach to the cell receptors. This triggers the electric impulse to move from the end of the nerve cell neuron to the other cell completing the message transmission and triggering and effect.

Role of GABA In the Brain

It is formed in the cells of the brain from glutamate. GABA acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter which simply means that it blocks nerve impulses in the brain. On the other hand, glutamate from which GABA is formed is an excitatory neurotransmitter. When it binds to cells adjacent to it, it activates them to send impulses throughout the brain from one cell to another. GABA instead of telling the brain to activate and send impulses, it tells it he opposite. It stimulates the brain not to send nerve impulses from one cell to another.

In the absence of GABA nerve cells tend to activate more often sending signals regularly. Disorders associated with anxiety such as headaches, addiction, panic attacks, Parkinson syndrome, cognitive impairment and seizures are all linked to low activity of GABA.

It naturally hinders nerve impulses transmission from one cell to another. It brings about a calming effect in the process. The best way to understand the significance of GABA is by understanding the effects of caffeine on the brain. Caffeine acts as an inhibitor of the release of GABA. When the levels of GABA are low in the brain, more nerve transmissions take place. This leads to the sensational feeling that one gets when they takes coffee. This feeling is as a result of activity of glutamate with less GABA.

The reason why, caffeine does this is simply because other molecules tend to bind with the neurons near the site where GABA binds with these neurons. This is exactly the way that basic tranquilizers like barbiturates and Benzodiazepines work. They increase the effects of GABA in the body which in turns inhibits the transmission of nerves.

It is synthesized in a metabolic path known as the GABA shunt. The first step in GABA formation uses a-ketoglutarate that  is formed from metabolism of glucose in the Kreb’s cycle. Afterwards a-ketoglutarate is processed by a-oxoglutarate to form glutamate. In the final process, the glutamate undergoes decarboxylation to form GABA through the glutamic acid decarboxylase enzyme. Like other neurotransmitters, GABA is stored in the synaptic vesicles of the brain and is only released when depolarization of the presynaptic membrane takes place.

Alcohol consumption leads to loss of coordination of the motors as well as sedation as other high levels of inhibitory transmitters do. The samples, which were taken and tested during a week in 2013 to provide a forensic snapshot of drug use, found London was one of the cities with the highest use of ecstasy. Contained in the report was the information that the sewages water in London contained 711 mg of benzoylecgonine, the main chemical in cocaine, per 1,000 people, compared to 393 mg in Amsterdam and 233 mg in Milan.

LondonGenerally, cocaine and ecstasy were the more popular drugs in western and some southern cities, while crystal meth remained the most popular in Eastern Europe. However, overall use of the drug is continuing to decline in countries such as Denmark and the United Kingdom after a peak in 2008. Eleven out of the 12 countries also reported falls in cocaine use in surveys undertaken between 2011 and 2013.

The international report also warned against the increasing use of so-called ‘legal highs’, which are sold over the internet and often try to mimic the effects of drugs such as cocaine or LSD. The agency identified more than 80 new chemical drugs last year, making a total of almost 250 detected over the past four years.

What is the theory behind it?

Several researchers have proved that cancer cells thrive in anaerobic conditions, they do not rely on oxygen to live and reproduce. They however depend on simple sugars like dextrose in order to survive. They solely rely on simple sugars to get energy to survive unlike healthy cells that may survive on other energy sources. Dr. Garnett approach to treatment of cancer relied on the above fact. Having studied the mechanism of cancer cell metabolism, Dr. Garnett developed a product that would alter the metabolism processes in the cancer cell. He mixed palladium and lipoic acid, B-12 and thiamine to come up with a very useful and safe cellular nutrient. When palladium and lipoic acid, B-12 and thiamine are combined, they promote energy production and offer a very powerful antioxidant protection at the cell level.

Poly-MVA has proved to be effective in treatment of cancer patients. When given to advanced cancer patients especially those at the phase IV, Poly-MVA is seen to affect the anaerobic cells negatively, inhibiting their metabolism while adding more health to the healthy body cells. It attacks the cancer cells denying them any nutrient supply and starving them to death.

Forsythe has been in the frontline advocating for the use of the poly-MVA as an alternative to cancer treatment. He has been conducting a Poly-MVA outcome based investigation on various Stage IV Cancers since January of 2004 in Reno, Nevada and the results have been so good so far. “We have seen patients go into full remission with aggressive, stage IV cancers and we see continued positive responses in others with previously chemo-resistant cancer. Other benefits from Poly-MVA are a significantly improved quality of life and a substantial reduction in the number and severity of side effects from chemo and radiation therapies.” He says.

In his experiment he used two groups of stage IV cancer patients, in the first group the patients were given the poly-MVA treatment alongside chemotherapy and the next group was purely put on the Poly-MVA supplement. In this experiment the poly-MVA dosage were given intravenously for fifteen days after which the patients were put on an oral dosage which went for as long as six to eight months. The patients are thereafter put on maintenance dosage that is given according to the remission of the tumor. This is an ongoing clinical research with 207 cancer patients still involved to date.

The clinical tests results showed that the response to the treatment was higher in patients that we given the poly-MVA supplement alongside chemotherapy. The response was 70 percent in this case while in the patients that were on the supplement alone, the response was 42 percent.

Poly-MVADr. Forsythe says that poly-MVA is a natural nontoxic alternative to cancer treatment that has minimal side effects. Some minor side effects like chills have been reported by the patients but Dr. Forsythe say that such side effects can be easily treated by giving antihistamine to remedy any allergic reaction
