Men ejaculation disorders: Erectile Dysfunctions

For a long time in many societies and beyond, matters relating to sex were held sacred to the point that any discussions about such topics were unheard of or better still seen as a taboo and unacceptable. This has made even simple conditions about people’s sexuality to be very difficult to handle. And as a result, many people have been and are still suffering in silence for conditions which could be easily treated if they come out to seek for help. As professionals from the AWAREmed health and wellness resource center under the able leadership of doctor Dalal Akoury MD, we understand the predicaments this tradition has done to people and we believe that time is up for us to take U-turn over this because for sure sexual dysfunctions come in different ways and for the purpose of this article we are going to be discussing men ejaculation which is equally becoming very prevalent by the day.

Ejaculation encompasses coordinated muscular and neurological events that involve deposition of semen in the urine channel (emission) and ejection of the fluid from the urethral meatus (ejaculation proper). Emission is accomplished by contraction of the vas deferens, seminal vesicles, and ejaculatory ducts. This process is under adrenaline control. Ejaculation proper results from the rhythmic contractions of the muscles around the urethra, which causes the forcible ejection of the ejaculate. Within the spinal cord lies the ejaculation center which is the area involved in the coordination of signals from the brain and penis that eventually lead to ejaculation. There are however four main ejaculatory disorders that are seen in clinical practice and they include the following:

  • Retrograde ejaculation
  • Premature ejaculation
  • Retarded ejaculation (orgasm) and,
  • Failure of ejaculation (an ejaculation).

Men ejaculation disorders: Retrograde Ejaculation

Retrograde ejaculation is the process whereby the semen is passed in a retrograde fashion into the bladder as opposed to out the urethra. There are 3 potential causes to this problem;

  • Anatomic (following bladder neck surgery or from a congenital process),
  • Neurologic (due to disorders that interfere with the ability of the bladder neck to close during emission, such as diabetes mellitus, retroperitoneal surgery)
  • Pharmacologic (due to paralysis of the bladder neck by certain medications)

This process is diagnosed by the finding of seminal fluid or sperm within a urine specimen obtained immediately after orgasm.

Finally, the treatment of retrograde ejaculation depends on to some extent on the cause. Like for instance, anatomic causes are rarely curable and sperm harvesting from the bladder is required for those patients wishing to initiate a pregnancy. Pharmacologic causes are generally reversible by the withdrawal of the offending medication. Neurologic causes are difficult to treat if there is complete nerve damage such as may occur in spinal cord injured patients. In those patients with a partial neural injury (diabetes), the use of certain medications (pseudoephedrine for example) may convert the patient to an-retrograde ejaculator. Whichever way you look at it, this a medical problem which needs medical attention and not embarrassment. We want to encourage you to come out of your suffering position and schedule an appointment with doctor Akoury immediately for help. You have your life to enjoy and a simple problem of ejaculation disorder should not stand in your way.

Penile anatomy and radiation therapy for men

Penile anatomy

Penile anatomy and radiation therapy for men suffering from sexual complications

Penile anatomy and radiation therapy for men: Erectile Dysfunction

Doses greater than 20 Gy (2000 rads) are frequently associated with large vessel injury meaning that, patients being treated with radiation for prostate cancer are receiving in excess of 70Gy. The wider the field of radiation, the less likely are blood vessels to recover. Given that the erection (cavernosal) artery is the only artery giving rise to erection, radiation exposure to this system may severely limit blood flow into the penis. It is therefore necessary that when you have been taken through this treatment procedure, you will need to seek medical help from the erectile dysfunction experts. And that is where doctor Dalal Akoury an experienced medical professional in this line for more than two decades now comes in. Calling her for appointment will be the starting point and upon evaluating your condition in private and confidence she will administer the correct treatment which will leave you well, comfortable and full of fulfilled sex life again. You may have not known and so it is essential to understand the penile anatomy and how it relates to the prostate gland even as you consider this type of treatment “radiation therapy”.

  • The prostate gland sits above a band of muscle (urogenital diaphragm) and it is separated from the back portion of the erectile body (crus) only by a distance of less than one centimeter.
  • The urethra (urine channel) passes between the two erectile bodies into the bladder and as it does this it is known as the bulb of the penis.
  • It is important to understand that the bulb plays little if any role in the development of or maintaining erectile firmness and it is the tissue within the true erectile bodies (corpora cavernosa), which when damaged leads to erectile dysfunction.

Penile anatomy and radiation therapy for men: Radiation in the pelvis area

Various studies have established that during 3D conformal x-ray therapy a significant dose of radiation is delivered to the back portion of the erectile bodies that is about 30% of the entire dose of radiation received by the prostate. Radiation therapy in the pelvis area of men can cause ED in 3 possible ways:

  • Arterial damage may block blood flow or damage the lining of the blood vessels that carry blood to the penis
  • Nerves in the pelvic area may become permanently damaged
  • Erectile tissue may be damaged, reducing blood flow to the penis or causing leakage of blood from erectile tissue (venous leak) during an erection

Some of the sexual side effects after radiation therapy may include the following:

  • Inability to achieve or maintain an erection (erectile dysfunction)
  • Weaker, less satisfying orgasms
  • Pain during ejaculation (although this usually goes away within weeks)
  • Dry orgasm or retrograde ejaculation (orgasm without the discharge of semen)
  • Less semen ejaculated

The technicalities and emotional pains involved when one is suffering from erectile dysfunctions must not be allowed to frustrate your relationship or your sex life. That is why doctor Dalal Akoury an expert in this discipline founded AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center to help you redeem your sex life. All your concerns will be address in confidence and with utmost professionalism if only you can schedule an appointment with doctor Akoury today.

Overweight effects on erectile dysfunction

Overweight effects

Overweight effects on erectile dysfunction comes with serious male sexual dysfunction complications

Overweight effects on erectile dysfunction: Blood flow in the corpora cavernosa chambers

Ordinarily, an erection adequate for sexual intercourse normally occurs when blood fills the two chambers known as the corpora cavernosa creating an erection that can sustain penetration. This causes the penis to expand and stiffen, much like a balloon as it is filled with air. The process is triggered by impulses from the brain and genital nerves. Anything that blocks these impulses or restricts blood flow to the penis can result in erectile dysfunction (ED).the following are some of the possible occurrences that are likely to cause obstruction in the blood flow:

  • Chronic diseases
  • Lifestyle
  • Surgery
  • Medication
  • Psychological

We have since discussed the effects relating to chronic diseases and now we want to continue with the remaining four as follows:

Lifestylehttp://www.integrativeaddictionconference.com/wp-admin

Lifestyle choices that impair blood circulation can contribute to ED. Smoking, excessive drinking, and drug abuse may damage the blood vessels and reduce blood flow to the penis. Smoking makes men with atherosclerosis particularly vulnerable to ED. Being overweight and getting too little exercise also contributes to ED.  Studies indicate that men who exercise regularly have a lower risk of ED.

Surgery

Surgery, including treatments for prostate cancer, bladder cancer, or BPH can sometimes damage nerves and blood vessels near the penis. In some cases, the nerve damage is permanent, and the patient will require treatment to achieve an erection. In others, surgery causes temporary erectile dysfunction that improves on its own after 6 to 18 months.

Medication

Erectile dysfunction may be a side effect of medication, including certain blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, and tranquilizers. Men should talk with their doctor if they suspect a prescription or over-the-counter drug may be causing erectile problems. Never stop any medicine without first consulting your doctor.

Overweight effects on erectile dysfunction: Psychological

Erectile dysfunction usually has something physical behind it, particularly in older men. But psychological factors can be a factor in many cases of erectile dysfunction. Experts says that;

  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Poor self-esteem and
  • Performance anxiety

All these can short-circuit the process that leads to an erection. These factors can also make the problem worse for men whose erectile dysfunction stems from something physical. Finally you probably have heard of all these before and gave then no consideration, dear reader if you are following this link and you or anybody you know is suffering from either of these conditions (ED or Obesity) then you can be of help to yourself or to them by calling and introducing them to doctor Akoury for permanent solution to their problems and living a much more fulfilling life thereafter.
