The consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs

The consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs: Choices has consequences

The consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs

The consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs can lead to a very painful experience. Users must seek for treatment to be free from all these drugs

The choices we make in life have consequences which can either be positive or negative. It would be very nice if the choices we make lead us into enjoying the positive side of life as opposed to the harsh negatives consequences. I don’t know what you are looking for in life, but it is my hope that it is a productive thing which is beneficial for your life and the general wellbeing of your health. The drugs we are using today are staging a serious war with our physical and psychological well-being and we cannot continue burying our heads into the sand pretending that everything is alright. Dr. Dalal Akoury a veteran expert in addiction and also the MD and founder of AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center tells us that the consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs are very chronic and life threatening that you wouldn’t even wish to come closer to your worst enemy let alone being the victim yourself.

I am often disturbed at the sight of young people engaging in a malty kind of drug abuse. That is to say an individual who besides abusing alcohol, is doing so along other drugs like smoking cigarette, cocaine, heroin or any other drugs. According to the experts at AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center, the use of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things you can do to your health. It amazes me seeing people take more than one drug together and at the same time. I appreciate that everyone is entitle to their opinion but either way you look at it, alcohol consumption you will be rest assured that up to 98% will be all negative effects – and in fact of the said benefits three quarters are concoction benefits which do not last for instance being talkative or gaining some level of confidence while under the influence of alcohol may be seen as a benefit but as soon as time lapses and sobriety resurface you lose the benefit instantly. I believe that from this introduction we can confess that alcohol is dangerous on its own and what about if the consumer mixes alcohol with other drugs? We are getting into that shortly but in the meantime let us look at some of the effects of alcohol alone without other drugs. People who drink heavily for a long time may experience the following:

Like I have mentioned these are not experiences you would want to be associated with in life because they are not only bad but also life threatening. I will tell you without a second thought that if you’re taking alcohol then the best thing you can do for your dear life is to stop and seek help by scheduling for an appointment with doctor Dalal Akoury of AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center.

The consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs: Taking alcohol alongside other drugs is dangerous

Alcohol and other drugs don’t mix and attempting this can be very fatal. For instance if you were to mix marijuana or club drugs (e.g. ecstasy, ketamine, GHB) with alcohol it will certainly be very difficult to make informed and smart decisions. You will be in consistent problems with the authorities because you’re not in control of yourself. You are likely to get into dangerous situations, to be injured or to injure someone else in the process. I plain language mixing alcohol with other substances is life threatening. Doing this may trigger your body to react violently causing you pain, headaches, cramps or vomiting. This is the last thing you would want to do. DON’T mix alcohol with any other drug.

The consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs: Legality of alcohol

Unfortunately alcohol is legal in as much as we are revealing the dangerous effects of this substances (alcohol) it is among the many addictive drugs allowed for human usage. The usage is limited to certain age bracket is a legal drug if you are of meaning that you can only use or buy alcohol if you’re within the legally allowed age. Currently in many nations across the globe the recommended age for drinking is 18 year though in some countries this limit can be up to 19 years or even more.

The consequences of mixing alcohol with other drugs: Reducing risks and getting help

Matters relating to alcohol abuse and drug addiction are very complicated and needs proper plan in the presence and for the future to stay safe. You may want to consider the following as guide:

  • Have a back-up plan for getting home (have money and a phone number for a taxi, or call your parents or a friend whom you trust).
  • If you drink at all, it is best not to drive at all.
  • When relying on others for a ride, make sure you know how much the driver has drunk before deciding to get in the car (this includes rides with adults, too).
  • If you drink, pace your drinks, have some non-alcoholic drinks too, and eat before you drink and while you are drinking.
  • Plan ahead for overnight stays. Make sure you know how much your friends are drinking and how they are getting home.
  • Don’t mix alcohol with medicines or illegal drugs. Check with your pharmacist to be sure.

Finally I appreciate that dealing with drugs is not an easy task owing to the fact that all these drugs are very addictive. This statement is only appreciating the difficulties in handling drug addiction but it did not say that it is impossible. What this statement means is that you can do it if only you can be taken through the process of addiction recovery by the right professionals. We have spoken of the capabilities of doctor Akoury and she can be of help you if only you could make that positive step of scheduling for an appointment with her today and your addiction problems will be resting in the right hands for professional treatment. Treating Addiction at a Drug Rehab Center

Treating Addiction at a Drug Rehab Center: When denial is defeated the journey begins

Treating Addiction at a Drug Rehab Center

Treating Addiction at a Drug Rehab Center begins with the understanding Detoxification as an alternative medicine. It helps to know what to do when you are intoxicated

Denial has been seen as the biggest obstacle in the treatment of drug addicts but the moment one is able to deal and overcome this problem, the journey of a more meaningful addiction treatment begins. If the patient is to be enrolled in a rehabilitation center, it is important to note that the moment an individual sets foot inside a drug rehab center, the healing process begins declares doctor Dalal Akoury a veteran expert in addiction. In her over two decades of administration of treatment to patients, doctor Akoury has enable many patients make the best results by receiving a combination of medications, natural therapeutic approaches and psychosocial therapies to synergistically align the body, mind and spirit, to ultimately provide a long-term life change. She says that normally treating addiction at a drug rehab center will start with the process of detoxification. This is a cleansing process that gives all the harmful toxins associated with drug use time to leave or be discharged from the body. it is important to note that during detox, the patient may experience withdrawal symptoms but once completed, it means that they have overcome their physical addiction to drugs. And because some addictions those related to opiates may require medication help during the detoxification process, therefore in the case of such addictions, the patients may continue to take the maintenance medication for a long period of time. In the event that will be the case, then the medical professionals will assess each individual’s situation and determine the best treatment plan.

After detoxification, counseling and therapy constitute the next phase of treatment. More than simply putting a bandage on the problem, drug addiction counseling helps the individual change their behavior for their better. The objective of therapy is to locate each individual’s “triggers” for drug use these are the circumstances that tempt them to use drugs – and then help them find a healthier way to respond to these situations.

There are three primary types of drug addiction counseling: individual, group and family. All types help to address the reasons behind addiction and to develop coping mechanisms to avoid future drug use.

Individual counseling – This involves one-on-one meetings with a therapist to discuss the root causes of addiction and develop life strategies for sobriety.

Group counseling – This therapy involves meetings with other recovering addicts in the program where people share stories and support one another through understanding and compassion.

Family counseling – Family members often feel the most negative impact when a loved one is addicted to drugs. These sessions help clear the air and rebuild the broken bonds that hold a family together. And before we get to the last phase of drug rehab, treatment is very important, and like I have said once denial is defeated, there is greater hope of lasting solution and so if you have come to the realization of the problem, then you need to seek for help immediately. Doctor Dalal Akoury and her AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center should be your starting point. You can do this by scheduling for an appointment with the experts today for the commencement of your recovery journey for a better life full of fulfillments.

Treating Addiction at a Drug Rehab Center: The final phase of drug rehab

And now to the final phase of drug rehab, after the first two the final one is the aftercare. This is very important because it is through aftercare, that the individual learns how to cope in their daily lives without the use of drugs and avoiding relapse. A lot more needs to be done at this stage because any kind of neglect could render all the efforts that have been made go to the drain. There are many different types of aftercare which may include the following:

12-step meetings – Groups such as Narcotics Anonymous help the individual get regular support from other recovering addicts in the weeks, months and years following treatment. These meetings help those in need feel as if there is always someone there to support them.

Sober living – A sober living home is a place where recovering addicts can gently transition back into life. They live among other recovering addicts and share responsibilities all in a safe and productive environment that is focused on healing.

Follow-up counseling and therapy – Sometimes, recovering addicts are in need of a life “tune-up” following treatment. These counseling programs help insure that the individual is putting the lessons learned during rehab to good use. Many addicts continue with individual counseling for years after they exit a formal treatment program.

Treating Addiction at a Drug Rehab Center: Find Treatment Help Today

Most drug addiction treatment programs last between a month and a full year, depending on the severity of the individual’s addiction. There are two primary types of drug rehab program: residential (where the individual lives at the facility full time) and outpatient (the recovering addict attends treatment during the day and then returns home in the evening). Choosing the right form of drug rehab depends upon the individual’s lifestyle, responsibilities and specific addiction. Regardless of the specific drug of addiction, rest assured that the addict will be in good hands in high-quality, evidence-based drug rehab programs. So go for it and live a much more productive life thereafter says doctor Dalal Akoury.

Drug abuse and treatment for skin picking disorders: How Drug Abuse Affects the Skin

The rough Road of Quitting Heroin Addiction

Drug abuse and treatment for skin picking disorders. the two conditions can destroy ones life if not addressed from the beginning

With the increasing demand for beauty globally a lot is being done to improve the quality of our skin to keep looking as youthful as possible. The worry is, even as positive efforts are being done, a lot more bad things are also being done to destroy the youthfulness and beauty of your skin. Upon discovering that there is great need to tame the problem of substance abuse which has been seen to be the primary obstacle in sustaining the beauty of your skin, doctor Akoury made a decision to create a medical center (AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center) whose main objective is to transform each individual’s life through increasing awareness about health and wellness and by empowering individuals to find their own inner healing power. Dr. Akoury’s practice focuses on personalized medicine through healthy lifestyle choices that deal with primary prevention and underlying causes instead of patching up symptoms. In this facility a lot is being done to restore the lost dignities, self-confidence of many people who are struggling with drug addiction. In our previous article, we noticed that skin picking disorders are some of the consequences that come with drug addiction and especially heroin addiction. Therefore in this article, we want to look at drug addiction and treatment for skin picking disorders as a way of finding lasting solutions.

Drug abuse and treatment for skin picking disorders: The skin picking disorder

The problem of skin picking disorders are becoming very common in today’s generation due to the continuous abuse of heroin. When one is suffering from this disorder, the beauty of such a person is seriously affected owing to the effects of the heroin addiction. To deal with this condition, doctor Akoury recommends that treatment must be done to the victim for both condition (heroin addiction and the infections on the skin as a result of the same). She further says that even though treatment of addiction is very difficult and full of obstacle, the good news is that with determination, this can be done conclusively. It is therefore advisable that if you are struggling with any form of addiction you can schedule for an appointment with doctor Akoury who will professionally carry out an extensive assessment on you to evaluate your psychological soundness before taking any treatment action on you. And like I had indicated before it must be noted that this substance is very addictive and a comprehensive psychiatric assessment will always be very vital. Doctor Akoury says that under normal circumstances an initial, personalized assessment should cover the following areas:

  • Identification of what triggers the behavior?
  • Getting to know the benefits individual is getting from the behavior
  • Finding out if the individual have co-occurring mental health problems, like anxiety or depression
  • Does the individual have an alcohol or drug problem?
  • Does the person have a family history of mental illness?
  • Has the person tried any medications or therapies in the past?

Even though a lot more still needs to be done when it comes to the treatment for this condition due to the fact that at the moment the, U.S. Food and Drug Administration have not yet approved any medications specifically for the treatment of BFRBs, there are clear evidence that several drugs have been used in the past successfully to control the impulse to pick or scratch the skin and the following are some of the medications which can be essentially helpful:

  • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), such as fluoxetine (Prozac) and escitalopram (Lexapro), have been approved for the treatment of depression and/or obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline (Elavil) and imipramine (Elavil)
  • Opioid antagonists, such as naltrexone (ReVia), are used to reduce the pleasurable effects of alcohol and certain narcotics
  • Neuroleptic medications, such as olanzapine (Zyprexa) and risperidone (Risperdal), are used to treat repetitive, compulsive behaviors

Doctor Akoury reiterates that along with medication, behavioral modification therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can help reduce the urge to self-mutilate. These therapies have also proven to be valuable in the treatment of drug addiction.

Drug abuse and treatment for skin picking disorders: Hope for Compulsive Behaviors

Skin picking and hair pulling, like drug or alcohol abuses are not conditions to be taken lightly because the consequences of not taking immediate action can be very destructive. Because we are dealing a very delicate organ, when strong substances like heroin are a bused, the effect on the skin can be very wanting. I encourage you to take the beauty restoration of your skin seriously by scheduling for an appointment with doctor Dalal Akoury today for an elaborate treatment procedure. And now back to the topic of discussion, cardiac toxicity can be defined as any damage caused to the heart by harmful chemicals. When the damage is done, what follows would be to seek for treatment. Therefore as part of treatment, the patients may be given toxins which are drugs designed to kill cancer cells. When this kind of treatment is being administered, it is likely to come with some side effects. Like for instance during treatment, not just the cancer cell that will be killed but even the normal cells in and around the heart can also be killed in the process thereby causing more vulnerability. Besides cell death, other types of cardiac toxicity from cancer treatment may include the following:

Cardiomyopathy – this normally happens when heart muscle becomes or is weakened, enlarged, thickened, or stiff. When it is not addressed timely, it can lead to changes in heart rhythm or even heart failure.

Myocarditis – this is inflammation (swelling) of the heart and can lead to changes in the heart rhythm or heart failure.

Pericarditis – this is an inflammation or swelling of the sac surrounding the heart and can also cause chest pain or heart failure.

Acute coronary syndromes – these are caused by blood vessel damage, which reduces blood flow to the heart. This can cause chest pain or a heart attack (myocardial infarction).

Congestive heart failure – this happens when the heart is unable to pump sufficient blood throughout the body. Chemotherapy can cause mild or severe damage to the heart. If severe, congestive heart failure or other life-threatening problems can occur. A heart transplant may even be needed.

Understanding what cardiac or cardio toxicity is: What cancer treatments cause cardiac toxicity?

In the process of cancer treatment, there are certain medications which when administered will have the cardiac toxicity as a side effect. Some of those medication processes we are going to discuss may include the following:

Let us now consider them with a view of finding out how they are causing cardiac or cardio toxicity in the following order:

Understanding what cardiac or cardio toxicity is: Chemotherapy

According to the experts at AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center, doctor Akoury says that we have some of the chemotherapy drugs that when used, are most commonly known to be causing heart damage. Such medications that are commonly used include anthracyclines. This drug for instance (Anthracyclines) is used to treat many different types of cancers including the cancer of leukemia, lymphoma, sarcomas as well as bladder, bone, breast, head and neck, kidney, skin, stomach, and other cancers. It is very important that when opting for thing kinds of medications, you need to consult with your doctor quit often so that in the event that there is any problem, it can be addressed before it get out of hand. Some of the brands of Anthracyclines may include:

  • Daunorubicin (Cerubidine®),
  • Doxorubicin,
  • Doxorubicin liposome injection (Doxil®),
  • Epirubicin (Ellence®),
  • Idarubicin (Idamycin® PFS), and
  • Valrubicin (Valstar®)

In rare cases, cyclophosphamide can damage the heart. This chemotherapy drug is an alkylating agent. It is sometimes used to treat some types of leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and sarcomas as well as bone, breast, central nervous system, ovarian, and skin cancers.

Understanding what cardiac or cardio toxicity is: Targeted therapy

Targeted therapy drugs that can cause damage to the heart include trastuzumab (Herceptin®), bevacizumab (Avastin®), lapatinib (Tykerb®), sunitinib (Sutent®), and sorafenib (Nexavar®). These drugs are used in a variety of cancer types and therefore if you are struggling with cancer, it is understandable that you need timely treatment, but in all these ensure that no self-medication habit is encouraged. Always seek for professionalism and only go to the right experts for prescription.

Many patients with cancer get radiation therapy to the chest. Not all types of cancer can be treated through this treatment process. Nonetheless, the following are some of the examples of cancers that may be treated with radiation and they include breast cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma, and some childhood cancers. Careful attention and precautions must be observed when opting for this treatment procedure because in many cases it can damage the blood vessels responsible for the delivery of the blood to the heart. Patients who are treated with both anthracyclines and radiation to the chest are at high risk for heart problems. So are patients who are treated with both anthracyclines and trastuzumab. Finally, and like just I had mention before the good health of your heart should be your first priority by all means. Doctor Akoury can be of help to you in keeping the health of your heart. All you need to do is to schedule for an appointment with her today and your life will never be the same again.

Cancer prevention the better option for health

Cancer prevention the better option for health in all dimension. We can do it because it is not impossible.

Good health is the most precious thing one can have in life. It is for much better than all the other wealth and valuable assets we are struggling to have. No one can quantify good health into monetary value and so good health is a priceless treasure. We all need to have it but the kind of life we are living today is full of so many contaminations that affect the desire to have good health. One of the most disturbing elements that affect health is sickness. The body is vulnerable to various diseases that make us spend all our life savings on medication when disease strikes. In view of this we want to explore further the discussion we just had in the last article about the cancer prevention being the better option. For sure cancer is a threat to this life and taking preventive elements of cancer infections is very important if we have to keep healthy. There are very many things we can do to prevent cancer from frustrating our lives. We have already discussed some of them in the last two articles but owing to the nature of this disease, we the experts at AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center under the able leadership of doctor Dalal Akoury, we are have a duty to inform you of all that you need to know to help you take all the preventative elements of cancer infections and be safe.

Cancer prevention the better option for health: Good and Healthy Lifestyle

Physical inactivity and healthy body weight – these are very useful elements in ensuring that cancer disease is prevented. And for sure regular physical activity and the maintenance of a healthy body weight, along with a healthy diet, will considerably reduce cancer risk. The authorities implementing National policies and programs should be more proactive in raising awareness, this should be done primarily to reduce the exposure to cancer risk factors, and to ensure that people are provided with the information and support they need to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Dietarydietary modification is another important approach to cancer control. Several studies have established that there is a close link between overweight and obesity to many types of cancer such as oesophagus, colorectum, breast, endometrium and kidney. Doctor Akoury recommends that diets high in fruits and vegetables may have a protective effect against many cancers. However, it is important to remember that excess consumption of red and preserved meat may be associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. And finally, healthy eating habits targeting the prevention of the development of diet associated cancers will go a long way in lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Cancer prevention the better option for health: Infections

Available statistics indicate that infectious agents are responsible for about 22% of cancer deaths in the developing world and some 6% in industrialized countries. This is not a very good indication at this time in this century. And besides that, another problem in the name of viral hepatitis B and C has also been established to be causing cancer of the liver; human papilloma virus infection causes cervical cancer; the bacterium Helicobacter pylori increases the risk of stomach cancer. In some countries however, the parasitic infection schistosomiasis increases the risk of bladder cancer and yet in other countries the liver fluke increases the risk of cholangiocarcinoma of the bile ducts. In this case, the best preventive measures may include vaccination and prevention of infection and infestation.

Cancer prevention the better option for health: Environmental pollution

Environmental pollution of air, water and soil with carcinogenic chemicals accounts for between 1–4% of all cancers. Exposure to carcinogenic chemicals in the environment can occur through drinking water or pollution of indoor and ambient air.

Cancer prevention the better option for health: Occupational carcinogens

More than 40 agents, mixtures and exposure circumstances in the working environment are carcinogenic to humans and are classified as occupational carcinogens. Occupational carcinogens are causally related to cancer of the lung, bladder, larynx and skin, leukemia and nasopharyngeal cancer is well documented. Mesothelioma which is the cancer of the outer lining of the lung or chest cavity is to some extent caused by work related exposure to asbestos.

According to the experts at AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center occupational cancers are concentrated among specific groups of the working population, for whom the risk of developing a particular form of cancer is likely to be much higher than for the general population. About 30% of the male and 20% of the female working age population aged between15–64 years may have been exposed to lung carcinogens during their working lives, accounting for about 10% of lung cancers across the globe. These findings also indicate that up to 2% of leukemia cases worldwide are attributable to occupational exposures.

Cancer prevention the better option for health: Radiation

Residential exposure to radon gas from soil and building materials is estimated to cause between 3% and 14% of all lung cancers, making it the second cause of lung cancer after tobacco smoke. Radon levels in homes can be reduced by improving the ventilation and sealing floors and walls. Ionizing radiation is an essential diagnostic and therapeutic tool. To guarantee that benefits exceed potential radiation risks radiological medical procedures should be appropriately prescribed and properly performed, to reduce unnecessary radiation doses, particularly in children.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and in particular solar radiation, is carcinogenic to humans, causing all major types of skin cancer, such as basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and melanoma. Globally just in 2000, it was estimated that over 200 000 cases of melanoma were diagnosed and there were also about 65 000 melanoma-associated deaths. Avoiding excessive exposure, use of sunscreen and protective clothing are effective preventive measures. UV-emitting tanning devices are now also classified as carcinogenic to humans based on their association with skin and ocular melanoma cancers.
