Smoking and Heart Disease – Drug Addiction

Smoking

Smoking causes heart disease and the solution is to quit smoking it is fatal

Those who are addicted to cigarette smoking may not know that they are smoking their life out of their system. They are also not aware that by sticking to this habit of smoking they have deliberately chosen the first lane leading them to their early grave. I will make effort in this article to state things as they really are because it is more helpful to know the whole truth as they are. The objective is not to scare you in anyway but to give you the clear picture of what cigarette smoking can do to you and the people around you. Because there is no safe smoking I will put it that by choosing the highway of smoking you are quietly committing suicide you may not agree with that but if the end result is that fatal then you are truly on that high speed locomotive of death. Throughout this article we will be interrogating the human heart one of the most vital organs in the body and how smoking affects its functions.

It is true that many people link cigarette smoking with respiratory problems and lung cancer which is just one of the many negatives of smoking but what many do not know is that smoking is also a major cause of heart disease to both genders. It is estimated that about twenty percent of deaths reported in the U.S are related to heart diseases explaining the reason why smoking is a major cause of heart attack.

Heart (attack) Disease

Heart attack has it characteristics. The risks of those characteristics are significantly multiplied in the systems of smokers. For instance if you smoke on a daily basis  one pack of cigarette your risk of heart attack will twice more than non-smokers. This is the general effects to all genders but specifically to smoking women and are using birth control pills, such individuals will have their risk of heart attack, blood clot, stroke and peripheral vascular disease significantly increased.

The dangers of smoking cigarette do not only affect smokers but also people around them. Even though the people around smokers may not be smoking in their own right they will develop health problems related to the environmental tobacco smoke also known as secondhand smoking or passive smoking. Children are the most affected as a result of passive smoking but generally secondhand smoking causes chronic respiratory conditions, heart disease and cancer. Research has established that about 35,000 passive smokers die annually from heart disease. Now reflecting on the highway of death you can now begin to appreciate that indulgence in cigarette smoking is for sure suicidal.

Smoking Increase Heart Disease Risk

The nicotine present in cigarettes is transported straight to the bloodstream and the result is:

  • Insufficient oxygen to the heart.
  • Undue blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Increase in blood clotting.
  • Mutilation to cells aligning coronary arteries and other blood vessels.

Benefits of Quitting Smoking to your Heart and Lifestyle

Now that you are appreciating how smoking is harmful to your health and those around you, the following are some of the benefits of quitting smoking:

  • Extend your lifetime significantly.
  • Decreases your risk of contracting disease (including heart disease, heart attack, high blood pressure, lung cancer, throat cancer, emphysema, ulcers, gum disease, and other conditions).
  • Feel healthier. After quitting, you won’t cough as much, you’ll have fewer sore throats, and you will increase your stamina.
  • Look better. Quitting can help you prevent face wrinkles, get rid of stained teeth, and improve your skin.
  • Improve your sense of taste and smell.
  • Save money.
How to Quit Smoking

Quitting smoking is not an easy task however the first step is to have that self-conviction that you want to quit smoking and not to be motivated by the desire to please your friends or family. You must in the process be ready to all rounds emotionally and mentally this will helps in planning for your recovery. To get started you may choose from the following guidelines:

Put down all your reasons for quitting in writing and read them daily before, in the process and after quitting. You may want to consider these tips:

  • Remember to write down when you smoke, why you smoke, and what you do when you smoking. This will help you know your triggers and avoid them.
  • Choose to stop smoking in certain situations (such as during your work break or after dinner) before actually quitting.
  • Create a list of activities you can do instead of smoking. Be ready to do something else when you want to smoke.
  • Ask your doctor about using nicotine gum or patches. Some people find these aids helpful. There are also drugs to help you quit smoking, such as Chantix and Wellbutrin.
  • Join a smoking cessation support group or program. Call your local chapter of the American Lung Association to find one.
How Will I Feel When I Quit Smoking?

When you stop smoking, you may crave cigarettes, be irritable, feel very hungry, cough often, get headaches, or have difficulty concentrating. These symptoms of withdrawal occur because your body is used to nicotine, the active addicting agent within cigarettes.

When withdrawal symptoms occur within the first two weeks after quitting, stay in control. Think about your reasons for quitting. Remind yourself that these are signs that your body is healing and getting used to being without cigarettes.

The withdrawal symptoms are only temporary. They are strongest when you first quit but will usually ease within 10 to 14 days. Remember that withdrawal symptoms are easier to treat than the major diseases that smoking can cause.

You may still have the desire to smoke, since there are many strong associations with smoking. People may associate smoking with specific situations, with a variety of emotions, or with certain people in their lives. The best way to overcome these associations is to experience them without smoking. If you relapse do not lose hope. Seventy-five percent of those who quit smoke again. Most smokers quit three times before they are successful. If you relapse, don’t give up! Plan ahead and think about what you will do next time you get the urge to smoke.

The good news is your risk of a heart attack is cut in half within two weeks of quitting smoking. After 15 smoke free years, your risk is similar to that of a person who has never smoked. Dear reader listen to the good news in this last paragraph isn’t it what you want? You will get it at AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center, an addiction facility founded by Doctor Akoury who has a passion in helping addicts recover from their addiction irrespective of the magnitude. pH Therapy in Cancer Treatment

Ph Therapy Gains Popularity as an Alternative Cancer Treatment

Cancer is a very dangerous if not the most dangerous disease that has continued to depopulate the world. But that said cancer and cancer treatment is a very interesting study. It is amazing to note how a single change in the physiological conditions in the human body can affect the growth of cancer cell. Nevertheless there is always something new that you need to know about cancer as doctors and medical researchers are still trying to find out the best cure of the disease. Due to the numerous researches that had been done in the past , a number of alternative cancer treatments have been created some of which are still controversial, some of which have been dismissed as ineffective and some of which have become popular with both the cancer patients and cancer doctors.

Previously the most known forms of cancer treatment were chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. But due to the loopholes that doctors wanted filled, new treatment methods have become even more popular with the cancer patients most of whom are trying to evade some of these conventional treatments for their respective side effects. One of these alternative cancer treatments is the pH therapy which is commonly known as the cesium chloride protocol.

What is cesium Chloride?

Cesium is a rare, naturally occurring element of alkali metal, similar in chemical structure to lithium, sodium, and potassium. Cesium chloride is a salt form of this element. Cesium chloride is most commonly associated with High pH Therapy and cancer, due to the work of Keith Brewer, Otto Warburg, and H.E. Sartori, among others. They found that cancer cells thrive in an low oxygen environment with low pH values, and that raising the cell pH makes it hard for cancer cells to survive. Cesium is one of the most alkaline elements hence has a high pH value. Cesium is readily taken up by the cancerous cells which then raise the pH level in the cancerous cells slowing their growth and reducing their survival ability.

Typically the pH level in the cancer cells is always low. The cancerous cells are more acidic as compared to healthy body cells. When a cancer patient takes a cesium chloride supplement, the pH levels in the cancer cells are increased. High pH levels are not good for the cancer cells and therefore the rate of the tumor growth becomes slowed. The treatment of cancer through use of cesium chloride supplements is often called the pH therapy.

The thought that cesium chloride could be used in cancer treatment began long ago when doctors found out that certain areas that had high concentration of alkali metals were devoid of certain type of cancers. In the early 1920’s researchers suggested that the cesium chloride could be used effectively in treatment of cancer. This claims were thwarted by other researchers who investigated the possibility of cesium being used in cancer treatment, they said that cesium chloride has no effect in tumor growth. However by 1980 the use of cesium chloride in cancer treatment was made public.

Cancer patients can buy the cesium chloride supplements that are available in pills and in syrup.  The patient can use between 1-6 grams of the cesium chloride as the daily dosage. It can also be mixed with juices, vitamins as well as minerals. Those who have used the pH therapy recommend using potassium supplements during that period to avoid abnormal heart rhythms. It can also be given intravenously that is, it can be injected into the vein through an IV.

Past tests on pH therapy effectiveness

A research study done by American University in Washington, DC involving tests on mice fed cesium and rubidium showed marked shrinkage in the tumor masses within 2 weeks. Another advantage of the pH therapy derived from the experiment was that the mice did not show any side effects from the therapy. The tests involved implanting tumors into the mice that were left for 8 days for the tumor to grow. Some of the mice were fed 1.11g of rubidium per day. After 13 days the mice that were not fed rubidium began dying. The tumors were removed and it was found that the mice fed rubidium daily had tumor shrinkage.

Tests have also been carried out on over 30 humans by H.Nieper in Germany and H.Sartori in Washington, DC. In both tests as well as other tests done by other physicians showed very positive results as in each case the tumor masses disappeared. The pains and other effects related to cancer also disappeared within 12 to 36 hrs. However in some cases the healing process took longer due to patients’ reacting to morphine.

pHOtto Warburg who is known for relating cell oxygenation to cancer also features here. When the cell is low in oxygen its pH drops creating a good environment for cancer cells to grow but with the pH therapy the cancer cells are easily managed as their growth and metastasis is inhibited.

Cancer has continued to threaten the human race but with doctors still working to curb its effects, there is hope that it will be curbed someday. You however need to learn on ways to prevent the disease. You need reliable information to help you do this. Altering or transforming your behaviors or habits related to food and physical activity is very essential for losing weight.

  • The first step is to understand which habits persuade you to overeat or have an inactive lifestyle.
  • The next step is to change these habits.

Let us explore some of the available guideline and tips useful in adopting healthier habits.

Change your surroundings – It is possible that you may overeat when watching a TV program, when treats are available at work, or when in company of some of your friends. The good news is that these habits are changeable by adopting the following:

  • Instead of sitting to watch TV, dance to music in your living room or go for a walk.
  • Leave the office break room right after you get a cup of coffee.
  • Bring a change of clothes to work. Head straight to an exercise class on the way home from work.
  • Create a reminder note on your calendar to remind yourself to take a walk or go to your exercise class.

Keep a record – You can be inspired by the progress you are making by observing the records of your food intake and the amount of physical activity that you do each day. This record helps you keep track of your weight. For example, when the records are positive indicating that you’ve been meeting your physical activity targets, you’ll be motivated to keep it up. A record also is an easy way to track how you’re doing, especially if you’re working with a registered dietitian or nutritionist.

Seek support – Relay on the support and encouragement from your friends, family, and health care provider either in person, through e-mail, or by talking on the phone or by join a support group.

Reward success – Reward your success for meeting your weight-loss goals and other achievements with something you would like to do, not with food. Choose rewards which you’ll enjoy, such as a movie, music CD, an afternoon off from work, a massage, or personal time.

Finally as you purpose to practice these guidelines it is also important that you keep regular consultation with the experts in obesity and weight management. Quitting Smoking

Quitting Smoking – Drug Addiction

If there is anything good you can do for yourself, is to quite smoking and kick it out of not just your life but also out of your neighborhood.

Have you ever wondered how and why smokers turn themselves in kitchen chimney that billows smoke from the very vital organs of their bodies! What amazes me is that all smokers are not ignorance of what the dangers they are putting themselves to. Despite of all the warnings visibly indicated on the packaging and all adverts run people still smoke as if smoking gives them certain values in life. This is very disturbing and we have deliberately decided to create an impact into seeing people adopt positive behaviors that do not endanger their own lives and that of others around them. It is my wish that reading this article will help you make the right decision of quitting your habit of smocking and if you are not a smoker then you will be able to help someone who is already smoking. I will then ask you a simple question do you want to quit smoking? If your answer is yes then I hope this article will be helpful to you.

Dear reader I want to bring to your attention a few facts about smoking and quitting. It is all about good news in stopping smoking because just within hours of stopping cigarettes smoking, your body begins to recover almost immediately from the effects of nicotine and all additives. Blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature all of which are raised because of the nicotine in cigarettes normalize to healthier levels. The capacity of your lung also increases and the bronchial tubes feels relaxed making breathing much easier. The toxic carbon monoxide in your blood also decreases permitting the blood to transport more oxygen within the body’s systems. I can tell you for sure that quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your own health.

Challenges in Quitting Smoking

This is not an easy exercise by all means but it is not impossible either, the difficulties will depend on a number of factors like:

  • The number of cigarettes sticks you smoke on a daily basis.
  • The kind of association you keep if you relate with smokers and spend time with them a lot then there will be problems.
  • What motivates you into smoking (weight control, social situations, peer pressure)

These are challenges you are likely to face in your journey to quitting smoking and you must be ready to face them positively.

Smoking is so addictive

One will not be penalized to blame nicotine the main drug element in tobacco, for their smoking addiction. When you smoke the brain quickly becomes friendly to the nicotine and develops tolerance for it increasing the urge to smoke more so as to achieve the same rush you often get from smoking a single stick of cigarette. Smoking cigarette is addictive and for your information nicotine acts on the same pathways as cocaine. However tolerance will occur when your brain attempts to keep itself balanced. Chemicals from the cigarette cause the brain to discharge chemicals called norepinephrine and dopamine. Too much discharge of these two chemicals causes the brain chemistry to get unbalanced and discharges its own anti-nicotine chemicals when one smokes. These “anti-nicotine” chemicals would make you feel down, depressed, and tired if you were not smoking and over time the brain will be able to foresee when you need to smoke and discharges the ant-nicotine chemicals which will make you feel tired, depressed and desires to smoke a cigarette.

Addiction to cigarette smoking is influenced by different trigger. A trigger is anything your brain associates with smoking easily. Smokers do not have the same triggers it could be:

  • The smell of cigarette smoke
  • A cigarette smoke ashtray put next to you
  • Seeing a carton of cigarettes at the store
  • Having certain food or drinks
  • The ending a good meal
  • Talking to someone with whom you normally smoke cigarettes.
  • Sometimes just the way you feel (sad or happy) is a trigger.

One of the biggest keys to quitting smoking understands the triggers that make you crave for smoking.

Desire to Quit Smoking – There is many ways of quitting smoking and they work differently to people some work better than others. The best approach is to choose a method which will challenge you to quit, but also one that you can achieve.

Behavioral therapy – With behavioral therapy, you visit a therapist who will help you find the most effective way to quit. The therapist will help you to identify your triggers, come up with ways to get through cravings, and provide emotional support when you need it most.

Nicotine replacement therapy – Nicotine gum, patches, inhalers, sprays, and lozenges are nicotine replacement therapies also known as NRT. Replacement therapy works by giving you nicotine without using tobacco. You may be more likely to quit smoking if you use nicotine replacement therapy however for persons age 18, your doctor’s consent to use nicotine replacement therapy will be necessary. This therapy works best when combined with behavioral therapy and lots of support from friends and family.

Medicine – Some drugs, including Zyban and Chantix, are formulated to help people quit smoking. You must never administer these on your own a prescription must come from your doctor.

Combination treatments – Using a combination of treatment methods can increase your chances of quitting e.g. by using both a nicotine patch and gum may be better than a patch alone. Other confirmed combination treatments include:

  • Behavioral therapy and nicotine replacement therapy
  • Prescription medication with a nicotine patch
  • Nicotine patch and nicotine spray.

What If I Start Smoking Again?

To go back to your old habit is known to us relapse which is normal in strong addictions like smoking. If this happens to you, you must not give up because you are not alone in relapsing. Many people will relapse many times before quitting permanently. I want to encourage you not to give up on this journey quitting is a process that might take some time and you will need the advice and guidance from addiction experts.  Dr. Dalal Akoury is one of the many you can seek help from. Overweight and Obesity

Overweight and Obesity – Treatment Available

Obesity

Obesity is a medical condition giving people sleepless nights. Good feeding habit can help you get your weight problem solved.

Overweight can be life threatening if measures are not taken timely to bring it to manageable levels. This can be done successfully in various ways which may include setting goals and making lifestyle changes, such as eating fewer calories and being physically active. Other treatment methods available are medicines and weight-loss surgery normally for people who may feel that lifestyle changes aren’t enough.

Overweight and Obesity – Set Realistic Goals

Setting realistic weight-loss goals is an important first step to losing weight. The choice of goals may not be standard with everybody like the one for adult may not be the same with that of the children and so let us segment them in that order of adults and children.

Overweight and Obesity – Goals for Adults

  • An adult should try losing between 5 to 10 percent of their current weight over 6 months. This will lower their risk for coronary heart disease (CHD) and other conditions.
  • The best way to lose weight is gradual. A weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week is practical, safe, and will help you keep off the weight. It will also give you the time to make new, healthy lifestyle changes.
  • In the event that you’ve lost say 10 percent of your body weight and have consistently maintain it off for 6 months if after this progress you are still overweight or obese then you may want to consider further weight loss.

Overweight and Obesity – Goals for Children and Teens

  • Parent should take the lead role in this and keep monitoring the progress. Therefore if your child is overweight or has high risk of being overweight or obesity, then the goal is to maintain their current weight and to focus on eating healthy and being physically active. To help young ones the whole family should make effort to embrace positive lifestyle changes.
  • If your child is overweight or obese and has a health complication related to overweight or obesity, your doctor may refer you to a pediatric obesity treatment center for further examinations and treatment.
Overweight and Obesity – Lifestyle Changes

Lifestyle changes can help you and your family achieves long-term weight-loss success. Example of lifestyle changes include:

  • Focusing on balancing energy received in the body (calories from food and drinks) with energy the body gives out (physical activity)
  • Following a healthy eating plan
  • Learning how to embrace healthy lifestyle habits

Over time, these changes will become a routine in your everyday life which is very good for weight loss.

Overweight and Obesity – Calories

By reducing the rate of calories intake (i.e. energy in) will be very helpful in weight loss. It is important to note that for an adult to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week they should reduce their calories intake by 500-1000 calories a day.

  • In general, having 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day will help most women lose weight safely while for men it will be 1200 to 1600 calories a day to be effective in proper weight loss. This calorie range for men is also suitable for women who weigh 165 pounds or more or who exercise routinely.

These calorie levels are a guide and may need to be adjusted. If you eat 1,600 calories a day but don’t lose weight, then you may want to cut back to 1,200 calories. If you’re hungry on either diet, then you may want to add 100 to 200 calories a day.

Low-calorie diets with less than 800 calories a day shouldn’t be used unless your doctor is monitoring your progress. However for overweight children and teens, it’s important to sluggish the rates of weight gain. Nonetheless reduced-calorie diets aren’t advised unless advised by a health care provider.

Overweight and Obesity – Healthy Eating Plan

A healthy eating plan supplies your body with the essential nutrients it needs every day ensuring enough calories for good health, but not so many that may cause weight gain.

A healthy eating plan is low in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium (salt), and added sugar. Following a healthy eating plan will lower your risk for heart disease and other conditions.

Healthy foods include:

  • Fat-free and low-fat dairy products, such as low-fat yogurt, cheese, and milk.
  • Protein foods like lean meat, fish, and poultry without skin, beans, and peas.
  • Whole-grain foods, such as whole-wheat bread, oatmeal, and brown rice. Other grain foods include pasta, cereal, bagels, bread, tortillas, couscous, and crackers.
  • Fruits, which can be fresh, canned, frozen, or dried.
  • Vegetables, which can be fresh, canned (without salt), frozen, or dried.

Canola and olive oils, soft margarines made from these oils, are heart healthy. However they should be used in smaller units because they’re rich in calories.

You also consider adding unsalted nuts, like walnuts and almonds in your diet provided that you limit the amount you eat (nuts also are high in calories).

Overweight and Obesity – Foods to limit

Foods that are high in saturated and trans fats and cholesterol raises blood cholesterol levels and also may be rich in calories. Fats and cholesterol raise your risk for heart disease, so they should be limited, saturated fat is found mainly in:

  • Fatty cuts of meat, such as ground beef, sausage, and processed meats like bologna, hot dogs, and deli meats.
  • Poultry meat without the skin
  • High-fat dairy products like whole-milk cheeses, whole milk, cream, butter, and ice cream
  • Lard, coconut, and palm oils, which are found in many processed foods

Trans fat is found mainly in:

  • Foods with partly hydrogenated oils like many hard margarines and shortening
  • Baked products and snack foods like crackers, cookies, doughnuts, and breads
  • Foods fried in hydrogenated shortening like French fries and chicken

Cholesterol mainly is found in:

  • Egg yolks
  • Organ meats like the liver
  • Whole milk or whole-milk products like butter, cream, and cheese

Avoiding foods and drinks containing added sugars, like high-fructose corn syrup, is very necessary. Added sugars will give you extra calories without nutrients like vitamins and minerals. They (added sugars) are found in many desserts, canned fruit packed in syrup, fruit drinks, and no diet drinks.

Overweight and Obesity – Portion size

A portion is the quantity of food you choose to eat for a meal or snack. It’s different from a serving, which is a measured amount of food and is noted on the Nutrition Facts label on food packages.

Anyone who has eaten out lately is likely to notice how big the portions are. Reducing on the portion size is a good way to eat fewer calories and balance your energy IN.

Finally what you eat and how you eat can be the cause of your weight problem and this could be complicated if you don’t know that the food you eat is really the reasons for your problem and so doctor Akoury who is the founder of AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center is committed to helping people globally in all matters of weight gain and obesity in the most natural way and putting emphasis on Neuroendocrine Restoration (NER) to reinstate normality through realization of the oneness of Spirit, Mind, and Body, Unifying the threesome into ONE.
