Over the past two decades doctor Akoury has been very instrumental in offering solutions to all people across the globe and in her experience, she came a cross one client whose story will be very useful for many parents with addicted children. According to this client about five years ago their son was 27-year-old and was so much addicted to alcohol drinking that finally led to usage of other strong drugs (cocaine to be specific). For more than one year they were in the dark about his new habit until he was out of control and that is when he lost his job this really caught us pants down because of his life and that of our grandson the client said. We could not believe how ignorant and blind we were until it all started to make sense when our son was consistently broke, weird phone calls, not showing up for family events, his actions, and his physical appearance. At this point the reality down on us and we tried to help him by enrolling him in treatment programs one after the other. It was difficult because the response was very discouraging but we kept telling him how much we loved him. In solidarity we began attending recovery meetings.

Child addiction and parental obligations: Learning the consequences of addiction the hard way

To cut the long story short it reached a point when we realized that it was beyond our control and we were prepared for the worst but even as we were in that situation, we still told him how much we loved him even though at this time we also needed to take care of ourselves. And so very painfully we detached with love. Our house was still open for him and he would come for meals and to shower but he could not live with us any more, nor would we give him any financial assistance. As fate would have it he who was never taught by his parents would be taught by the world and so he was arrested and we did not bail him out. He was so angry with us, but we still maintained our love for him. He was sentenced to go to a treatment program. He had only the clothes on his back, not even a pair of shoes, and it was winter. We did not give him anything but told him to call when he was settled in his new home and that we still loved him. At this point he knew he was losing his family and possibly his son. That was about four years ago. Today our son has gone through treatment, is working on a recovery program and has custody of his son. We all take it a day at a time. We want to thank doctor Dalal Akoury and her team of experts at AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center for their professional insight that has brought transformation to our son even if it was through the hard way. You can make yours easier by contacting doctor Akoury today.

Parental obligations in taming childhood addiction: Guide lines for drug addiction prevention

Without question, talking with your children is extremely important in our efforts to protecting them from alcohol and drugs. But there are other things that we need to do as parents to be involved in preventing alcohol and drug problems from our kids. “What can I do to influence, encourage or promote prevention efforts with my children’s drug use?” the following are some useful guidelines for parents:

Don’t be afraid to be the “bad” parent – Because of the love we have for our children, sometimes, our fear of negative reaction from our kids keeps us from doing what is right. With alcohol and drugs, taking a tough stand is necessary in helping our children say no to drugs because “my mom or my dad would kill me if I drank or used.” Our decisions and our rules allow our child to use us as “the reason” for not using alcohol or drugs.

Get to know who your child’s friends are – Pay attention to who your child is hanging out with, who is coming to the house and get to know them. Encourage your child’s friends to come to your home, invite them for dinner and make them feel welcomed. Encourage your child to invite friends over to the house.

Make connections with other parents too – As you get to know your kids friends, take the opportunity to introduce yourself to their parents. It’s a great way to build mutual support and share your rules about alcohol and drugs. And, it will make it easier for you to call if your son/daughter is going to a party at their house to make sure that there will be responsible parental supervision. Other guide limes may include:

  • Promote healthy activities
  • Establish clear family rules about alcohol and drugs
  • Get educated about alcohol and drugs
  • Be a role model and set a positive example
  • Keep track of your child’s activities
  • Keep track of alcohol and prescription drugs

Finally in doing all these remember to walk along with experts in every step of the way so that no stone is left unturned and doctor Dalal Akoury is only a phone call away.

Natural detox options for body cleansing: The idea behind natural detox diet

The idea for detox diets comes from the concern that toxins are constantly attacking our bodies and all for the wrong reasons. These (toxins) are chemicals with potentially harmful effects. While some toxins are more obvious, such as pesticides or smog, some people consider even seemingly normal substances to be toxins. They may come from many sources including the following:

  • Alcohol
  • Impure water
  • Substances such as artificial sweeteners added to food
  • Smog or other substances in the air
  • Medications
  • Pesticides or other chemicals used to grow or prepare food
  • Sugar
  • Caffeine

The common understanding is that the body embraces toxins in the digestive, lymph, or gastrointestinal system as well as in skin and hair. This may the result in health complications like:

  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Nausea and
  • A wide range of chronic diseases

Detoxification alternatives for body cleansing: Detox diet

The process of natural detox is healthy and user friendly explains doctor Akoury. Like for instance natural detox diets are designed to help the body purge itself of toxins. To archive this, you for a moment give up certain kinds of foods (this is called fasting or purging). Then you slowly reinstate foods. For example, you might start with a liquid diet for one or two days. Then you graduate to four or five days of brown rice, fruit, and steamed vegetables. Finally, you add other foods, excluding red meat, wheat, sugar, eggs, and prepackaged or junk food. Remember that in all these, the organic foods and drinks and lots of water are required on a natural detox diet. Alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, drugs, processed or refined foods, and certain supplements are not allowed.

AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center is home of solutions. When you visit this facility we will not only naturally detox but also paired it with changes in lifestyle, primarily to foster the cleansing of toxins from the body. We would recommend Saunas and other exercises to increase sweating which is another useful way of purging the body of certain substances.

Detoxification alternatives for body cleansing: Natural ways of detoxification

The body is an expert in eliminating elements which are seen to be un-necessary to the body on its own however in certain extreme cases where these substances are overwhelming other natural means would be applicable for detoxification.  In this instances your liver, lungs, kidneys, skin, and digestive track are programmed by Mother Nature to keep your body clean all round.

Nevertheless you can give your body’s natural detoxing powers a boost with some of these easy tips. You may start with a two week trial and see how you do. This version of “clean” living can work for a lifetime, but gauge your ability to stick with these changes over the first 2 weeks. This 14 days jump-start will help you find the right balance of moderation in these areas to keep you on a healthy living path.

Stay hydrated with water – Water is part of every metabolic process in the body, and adequate water intake also helps keep the balance of body salts normal. Natural thirst should always be addressed. And remember that fruits and vegetables are almost all water, so 5-7 servings can boost your natural water intake. And the best way to tell if your water intake is adequate is to check the color of your urine. Pale yellow is the goal. If it’s any darker than that, drink a glass of water or two.

Avoid alcohol-even red wine – Alcohol is not a healthy food it’s also a diuretic, which can be dehydrating. And it’s a double diet whammy, bringing both the extra calories and the lowering of mental focus to say no to higher-calorie foods.

Eliminate processed and prepared foods – Purpose not to consume foods that come in cans, boxes, bags or jars.  Avoid restaurant foods since many of them may look healthy but the preparation process may include unhealthy oils, or may be saturated in a creamy sauce. Therefore eliminating processed foods is the quickest and easiest way to limit excess sugars, fats, and calories.

Break a sweat – Skin is the body’s largest organ, and sweating helps you eliminate excess body salts and other metabolites of body processes. Breaking a sweat every day is a good way to support your body’s healthy elimination of metabolic breakdown products.

Get some sleep – Purpose for seven to nine hours every night. Enough sleep supports and maintains a healthy brain.

Change your response to stress – While eliminating stress is not realistic, changing how you respond to daily stressors goes a long way to boosting a healthy body. Start with the concept to “stop and think” with a deep breath before you respond. Stress has both physical and mental effects on metabolic and behavioral activities. And simple steps like eating well, getting adequate sleep, and being physically active go a long way to helping you maintain the control you need to manage your stress more effectively.

Alcohol intoxication and poisoning threats to health

Alcohol intoxication

Alcohol intoxication and poisoning threats to health is not only causing havoc in the streets but also in the most respected homes Remaining sober by ensuring healthy eating habits will help you escape instances of black out

Alcohol intoxication and poisoning threats to health: A medical emergency

It may be your favorite drink but facts will always remain facts that alcohol is a silent killer substance. Alcohol intoxication and poisoning threats to health is how best we can describe the magnitude of the harms that are associated with the continued consumption of this dangerous drug yet legally allowed for consumption. Experts from AWAREmed Health and Wellness Resource Center under the able leadership of doctor Dalal Akoury says that because of alcohol hundreds of people die yearly from acute alcohol intoxication also known as alcohol poisoning or alcohol overdose. And besides that thousands of more are admitted daily to the emergency rooms in various health facilities across the globe. It is regrettable that as things stand now and unless something is done drastically to contain the situation, alcohol poisoning is steadily increasing in high schools and other institutions of higher learning like colleges and universities campuses. For luck of better words to describe the magnitude of the problem, I can only put it plain that drinking too much repeatedly too fast can kill and will you. I don’t mean to scare anyone with my choice of words, but I am only stating as it is because the picture we see on the adverts is total fiction meant to bring many into the consumption basket for an eminent destruction at an appropriate time, says doctor Dalal Akoury.  Therefore why do I say that alcohol poisoning is a medical emergency? Let’s find out progressively.

Alcohol intoxication and poisoning threats to health: Alcohol poisoning is a medical emergency

Alcohol consumption has never been friendly to human health and it is not about to start anytime now or in the future, and being a depressant drug, once it is administered into the body through ingestion, it immediately start it act of damage by working round the clock to slow down some of the body’s vital functions including heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing. This will continue as users continue in their habit and when the vital centers have been depressed enough by, it then leads to unconsciousness. Doctor Akoury is registering that it is very important to appreciate that, the amount of alcohol it takes to produce unconsciousness is life threatening and very close to a fatal dose. The consequences of this is that those individuals who survive alcohol poisoning sometimes suffer irreversible brain damage.

Nonetheless one very important to note is that alcohol abuse knows no boundaries and therefore everyone can fall to it. I was talking to some student in one of the learning institutions and it is worrying how many are in the dark and were surprised to learn that death can occur from acute intoxication. According to the students it was evident that most of the young people often think that the worst that can happen when they are intoxicated is that they will just pass out and have a hang-over the next day. That is the highest order of ignorance which is very harmful to our young people. It is our duty to impact positively to them by creating awareness about the dangers of alcohol poisoning and intoxication threats to health by all means. Finally alcohol is not good for your health and if you’re in it, seek for help now by scheduling for an appointment with doctor Akoury so that you can have a one on one discussion with her today.
